The brief: build an in-house development department from the ground up. I laid the technical foundation myself and then grew the team to the point where it builds products on top of it independently. Including handing over product ownership.

Leadership & enablement: grew the in-house development department from a team of three to 12 people today and introduced SCRUM, including training both the team and the executive board. The technical foundation: Angular and Nest.js, a hybrid cloud environment (GCP + STACKIT) with Terraform and Kubernetes, plus GitOps and CI/CD with ArgoCD. On top of that, I defined how our domain services are built: the blueprint the team has been building new services against ever since. After two years as product owner for the MackOne Account, I handed the role over to a product owner within my own team.

What the team built on it: 9 domain services in production, one more in development. The hosted pages and user profile of the MackOne Account initially came from an agency and now sit entirely with the team. My PrivacyLog prototype for GDPR-compliant data deletion became a product of its own with its own product ownership.

Hybrid AI team: jointly led with the team lead for Customer & Market Intelligence; I own the technical side. After an external agency kickstarted the effort, we hired internally to bring the know-how into the company for good. What we are building is “Ecki”, an agentic AI platform.

Technical project lead for introducing a central customer identity & access management system for all digital platforms (shops, apps, marketing automation): selected and integrated cidaas as the identity backend, built it out as the “MackOne Account” product and later took over as product owner.

Alongside that, advised teams and service providers on software architecture, DevOps and standardised APIs, and trained colleagues in Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code and CI/CD.

Designed and implemented a new microservice-based software architecture: Kubernetes with Istio service mesh, Nest.js services, NATS messaging, Keycloak as identity provider and a central REST API gateway.

Alongside that, designed and built Angular components for digital sales apps, and administered and further developed the cloud product “Ideal Needle Handling” (Meteor.js, MongoDB, IBM Cloud).

Hands-on development at mid-sized companies: an online point-of-sale solution for retail with an interface to a cloud ERP, an IoT device for driving receipt printers and cash drawers from the cloud, monitoring apps for sales figures from roughly 50 locations, and further development of an inventory management system. All of it with PHP, Node.js, MySQL and JavaScript, including Linux server administration.
